During the Autumn and Winter months the Canal and River Trust occasionally close canals, rivers and towpaths for maintenance work. The Canal and River Trust list all stoppages on British Waterways and Environment Agency navigations as soon as they are notified. Although sometimes there can be emergency work which causes sudden closures.
As well as planned closures the Canal and River Trust also display temporary stoppages on the canal, river or towpath.
