  Dress In Green

Start the day by dressing in green, tradition says that if you don’t wear green on the 17th March you will get pinched! Don’t get caught out make sure you wear something green on the day.


  Cook a traditional Irish meal

Celebrate by cooking your friends and family a traditional Irish meal, recipe ideas such as corned beef and cabbage, potato soup, and braised greens are firm favourites.

  Turn all your drinks green

Green beer is firm favourite on this Irish-inspired holiday. But if green beer doesn’t float your boat try out these 3 recipes…

Start the day with a green smoothie Avocado Smoothie

1ripe avocado, halved, seeded, and peeled
1/4cup plain Greek yogurt
1cup orange juice
1tablespoon honey
1teaspoon grated fresh ginger
salt (optional)
2 cups ice

In a blender combine avocado, banana, orange juice, plain Greek yogurt, honey, grated fresh ginger, and a dash of salt, if desired.
Cover and blend until smooth. Add 2 cups ice; blend until smooth.

A cheeky Margarita for lunch …..

3 cups Triple Sec or other orange liqueur
2 cups tequila
1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lime juice
1 cup superfine sugar or powdered sugar
Kosher salt
9 lime wedges
Ice cubes

Directions In a pitcher combine Triple Sec, tequila, lime juice, and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Chill mixture until ready to serve.
Place salt on a small plate. Rub rims of eight glasses with one of the lime wedges. Dip rims of glasses in salt to coat.
Place ice cubes in salt-rimmed glasses. Pour tequila mixture over ice cubes. Garnish with remaining lime wedges.

Finish the day with… a Lemon-Cucumber Refresher

5 cucumber slices
3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) light rum
4 ½ teaspoons (3/4 ounce) lemon juice
4 teaspoons (about 3/4 ounce) Simple Syrup
Ice cubes, Cucumber slices (optional)

Place 5 cucumber slices in a cocktail shaker. To muddle, gently crush cucumber with the back of a spoon. Add rum, lemon juice, and Simple Syrup. Add ice cubes; cover and shake until very cold. Strain liquid into an ice-filled glass. If desired, garnish with additional cucumber slices.

  Drink Guinness

Don’t start too early, but having a pint or two off the black stuff is a sure way of getting into the celebrations.

Many towns and villages hold parades or parties see what’ s going on near you whatever the weather the crowds will turn out to be part of the celebrations

  Listen to bag pipes?!

Hmm not sure about this one myself never really been a big fan of the pipes. All adds to the atmosphere though so go on, give it a go.
