Not long now to the boat rally which will be held at Whitchurch on the Arm of Llangollen Canal, which is organised by The Whitchurch Waterway Trust.

Colourful and decorated narrowboats will be on display as visitors make their way to the Whitchurch arm of the canal for the festivities.

The event attracts hundreds of visitors every year. The event has been running since 1994 so this will be the 21st rally! The first one being one year after the first part of the Whitchurch Arm was opened and Red Rum was the guest of honour.

Each year there is a theme and this year’s theme is The Horse.  The organisers are hoping that the boats will be decorated accordingly! The theme this year has been chosen in recognition of the Chinese Year Of The Horse and the historic use of horses on the canal system.

The fee for entering your boat is £12.50 and entrants may join the trust for a meal on Saturday evening which is £6.50 per person.

The meal will be a chicken casserole and a yummy pudding.  There is also a quiz during the evening.  They will provide tables, plates and cutlery (plastic) for the meal and all you will need to bring is your own chairs, drinks and glasses. Happy Days!

Funds raised over the weekend will go to the trust's work to maintain the waterways.

Over the weekend there will be stalls selling their wares, a dog show, live music as well as the best dressed boat show!

A fun weekend for boating enthusiasts, and anyone who is looking for a fun day out.

Those all important dates are: 20th and 21st September 2014
